What better way to spend a Saturday afternoon than sampling some delicious wines from the Rhone Valley in the South of France; then indulging in a delicious 3 course lunch.  The wines from the famous Rhone Valley will be explained by Simon Hore from Thorman Hunt.  The tasting will open at 12pm when you will have the opportunity to sample about 14 wines.  The afternoon includes a 3 course lunch with accompanying wines for £50pp.  So, what is stopping you?

Friday 13th October 2017

Those of you who attended this event last year will need no encouragement, and those of you who didn't have such a treat in store.  This really is a wonderful opportunity to join Mark Tilling for his ‘Masterclass in Chocolate’.  Mark was UK Chocolate Master 2006-2010 and represented the UK in the Chocolate Master world finals in Paris, where he was ranked 12th in the world in 2007 and 7th in 2009, the UK’s highest-ever placing.  He's also recognised for leading his team to victory in Bake Off Crème de la Crème 2016, against tough opposition and some highly critical judges.

The morning will start at 10am with coffee and a talk from Mark, when you will have the chance to quiz him on his career, his achievements and find out what it takes to be a Master Chocolatier and win Bake Off Crème de la Crème.

Then enjoy watching Mark at work as he demonstrates his skills.  You will then learn how to create your own professional petit fours, under Mark’s steady guidance. 

Lunch will be served at 1.30pm, when friends and family can join in.  The three course lunch will include a winning dessert by Mark, and to finish we’ll serve coffee/tea and your own petit fours.   Don’t worry there will be enough to take home for those who cannot make the lunch. 

The icing on the cake is the event will raise funds for Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service

All of the above for just £95 per person, which includes lunch too!  The price for guests who are joining for lunch only is £45 per person.  Signed copies of Mark's book 'Working with Chocolate' will be on sale at the event at a special discounted price.



Christmas Parties
The Royal Oak is the perfect location for your company and private Christmas Party.  We cater for parties large and small.  The private dining room holds a maximum of 14 guests, the private dining and new room combined holds 60 guests and the entire restaurant holds 80.  This year we have 3 Christmas Party Menus to choose from:  Menu One is a 3 course menu offering a choice of 2 starter, mains and desserts for £30 per person.  Menu 2 is a 3 course menu offering a choice of 4 starters, mains and desserts for £40 per person.  Menu 3 is a 3 course menu offering a choice of 5 starters, mains and desserts plus house breads and coffee, teas and mince pies for £50 per person.  Please click here to take a look at the menus.

Lacryma Christi, De Falco, Vesuvio, Italy 2016

Lacryma Christi, or tears of Christ is the name of a celebrated Neapolitan type of wine produced on the slopes of Mount Versuvius in Campania, Italy.  White Lacryma Christi is made mainly from Verdeca and Coda di Volpe grapes, so it gives a well rounded taste with hints of melon - you can sense the Amalfi coast :-).  It is a perfect refreshing summer wine.
